My Loves, Lusts, Faiths + Dreams of 2013

The year is coming to an end. The last month is flying past us with festivities and making up New Years resolutions. Everyone is preparing for a new year.
So I decided, as a music lover, to make a little list of my favorite albums that came out this year, to kind of let this musical year behind me and get ready for loads of new music to come.
So I made a top 10. I usually hate favorites. I just don't like putting one above the other because it would be 'better'. That's why there's a shared nr. 5 spot. I tried. I really did. But I just couldn't choose.

So let's get this going:
My Top 10 Albums from 2013.

10. Ocean Grove - Human Race
For a while ~quite a long while~ I have listened to this album a lot. I love it. At the moment, it's kind of moved to the background, but that doesn't change the fact that I've listened to it a lot and that I love some of the songs on there. You know, that's the thing. This is the kind of album that has a few songs on there which I love to bits, and then the rest is kind of... yeah... dunno. So. Nr. 10.

9. Muse - Live at the Rome Olympic Stadium
I mostly put this in this list, because I really, really, really wanted to go see the movie in the theatre, but no-one wanted to go with me. Sad. So, to try and make myself feel better, I've put the album in my Top 10. And lets be honest. Add up Muse and Live and you get something amazing.

8. Woodkid - The Golden Age
I have actually really found this album a few months ago. I already knew the album before, but because it's really nice and mellow and the guy has a really pleasant, low, dark voice, I thought it would be great to listen to when I wanted to listen to music and not get distracted. But a few months ago I really lístened to it for the first time. And omg. yes.
 7. Tom Odell - Long way Down
My sister loves Tom Odell's music. She bought this album. When she did, I listened to it once, you know, just to know if it's nice, but never really did something with it. Until, again, a few months ago. And omg do I regret not doing it earlier. Amazing.

5. Arctic Monkeys - A.M.
So there it is. Nr. 6 is missing. This choice was so hard. So hard. I just couldn't choose which one I liked more. So I took a look at my stats in my Last.fm and in there this one lost. But I just couldn't put it on 6. So here goes.
I actually listened to it ánd loved it right when it came out, right at the first time. I listened to it because Dan Howell (aka danisnotonfire) said something about it and said it was great. And because I know he has great music taste, I gave it a try. And here we are. Love for them. They are actually set to be at Rock Werchter 2014, so hopefully I'll be able to see them live as well coming year.

5. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
This one I literally found just a month ago. I was at a record store with my friend and we came by this album and omg is the album art amazing. I didn't know the album or the music, but I was so tempted to just buy it for the amazingly beautiful cover ~I didn't~. So when I came home, I listened to it, to see if I could have a better reason to buy it. And yes. I now have a reason to buy it. Because it's amazing. Love this. I now HAVE to have it.

4. Fall Out Boy - Save Rock And Roll
When Fall out Boy brought out their first come-back single My songs know what you did in the Dark, I loved it. So when the full album came out, I had to listen to that as well. So I did. And I loved it. for a while it was my go-to album to listen to. So great. So. Nr. 4.

3. Lorde - Pure Heroine
Ok, let's be honest, I haven't even been listening to this album for a month. Literally (been listening since nov16th). But still it's my nr. 3. Well, I listened to it and I had to hear it again. And again. And again. And this went on. I just couldn't stop. At the moment I'm taking a little break, but I'm starting to notice it creeping back again, so this had to be my nr. 3. No doubt. It's amazing. Just give it a try. And let it take you. BTW, this was another listen because Dan Howell said it was good. So thanks for that.

My las two are kind of pretty obvious, if you know me. So here's the first.

2. Bastille - Bad Blood (or All this Bad Blood)
I had already LOVED Flaws, Bad Blood and Sleepsong for, like, half a year before the album came out. And when it came out, my love for Bastille became infinite. And then I saw them live at Pinkpop. And then I FINALLY got the actual physical album this november and. Just. Wauw. I got All this Bad Blood, which you can kind of see as a deluxe album, with 2 cd's and a lot of extra songs and it's just undeniably good. So yeah. There you have it. Listen to it. Love it. Buy it. Be amazed my the amazingness that is Bastille.

1. 30 Seconds to Mars - LOVE, LUST, FAITH + DREAMS
This year. Finally, after 4 years. And after one year of silence. 30 Seconds to Mars brought out a new album. And HOLY ACTUAL FUCK they brought out a new album. For at least a full week, there was LITERALLY nothing else I have listened to. Maybe that's a bad thing but I don't care. It's 30 Seconds to Mars.
Jared Leto is a Legend. I just can't say it enough.
There is not really a lot to say about this album other then this my first 30 Seconds to Mars album I had to wait for, since I started when This is War came out and The wait was worth it a thousand times.
And then there is this little tip for you pretty readers out there:
Listen to this album. Let it come to you. Let it take you. Love it.
Then. SEE THEM LIVE. SEE THEM LIVE. ~if you can~
Once you've done that, you will just get me and my 30 Seconds to Mars obsession.
Oh, and what makes this album even more exciting for me: I have it signed. By the ACTUAL 30 Seconds to Mars. And I went and get it MYSELF. And Shannon and Tomo said I had a nice shirt. And Jared Leto ~JARED FUCKING LETO THE GOD AND JESUS OF THIS EARTH~ looked up at me and smiled and just looked at me and wow.
so that's that. My nr. 1. What a surprise.

Well. There you have it. A pretty long post with my Top 10 albums from 2013 with a little back story and explanation to go with it.

Do you have any great finds from this year? Are you looking forward to some musical things for the coming year?
I personally am looking forward to a new Foo Fighters album. Should be nice.
And I'm looking forward to festival season. Since I went to my first-ever-full-festival-with-camping-and-friends Pinkpop this year, I am very looking forward to doing something similar again this year. And as it looks now, we will be going to Rock Werchter, since they have announced some pretty freaking amazing names already and I just can't deny me wanting to go there pretty badly. For the Line-Up click here, and see for yourself.

Have a nice life,
Xoxo
Winnie.
